In Honor Of Black Music Month We Celebrate The Whispers
The Whispers came on the scene straight out of Watts, CA in 1964. The original member included Wallace “Scotty” and Walter Scott. In 1966 Sly Stone invited The Whispers to The San Francisco Area which is where they stayed.
The group scored many hits in the 70’s and 80’s including, “And The Beat Goes On and “Rock Steady. In the 53 years that they’ve been together The Whispers have been on several record labels, garnered many awards, and have gone through many changes. Their music has been sampled by many artists including, Will Smith, The Sugarhill Gang, Notorious B.I.G. and countless others.
Nicholas Caldwell who was also an original member passed in 2016 at the age of 71.
