Happy Birthday Sade
We would be remiss if we did not wish Happy Belated Birthday to the beautiful Sade who turned 59 yesterday, January 16.
Born in Nigeria, Sade was discovered because of her rendition of, “Smooth Operator,” which helped get her signed to Epic Records.
Her debut Album on Epic Records sold over 6 million copies and Sade was ranked #30 on VH-1’s 100 Greatest Women in Music list.
In 2002, her song , “By Your Side” was nominated for a Grammy Award.
Sade’s US certified sales stand at 23.5 million units (as of 2015), according to Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA), and the band has sold more than 50 million units worldwide.
The band was ranked at number 50 on VH-1’s list of the “100 greatest artists of all time”. In 2010, The Sunday Times described her as the most successful solo British female artist in history.
