Knights Stymie Jets, Advance to Stanley Cup Final
Only four more wins. Only four more wins and the Vegas Golden Knights, in their first season, will bring the Stanley Cup to Las Vegas. The Knights advanced to the Stanley Cup final on Sunday in Winnipeg, taking down the Jets 2-1 to win the series 4-1 and claim the Western Conference title. Vegas won four straight against the Jets after losing the first game of the series. The Knights now own a record of 12-3 in the playoffs and await the winner of the Washington/Tampa Bay series. Tampa Bay leads that series 3-2 and can win it tonight in Washington. The Knights again got great goaltending from Marc-Andre Fleury and Ryan Reaves scored what proved to be the game winning goal in the second period. The Knights defense, aggressiveness, and Fleury’s goaltending made the lead stand up until the final horn sounded and the Knights celebrated in front of the stunned crowd in Winnipeg. Fans in Vegas, meanwhile, were understandably ecstatic as the Knights became the first expansion team since the 1968 St. Louis Blues to advance to an NHL final. Get ready for a crazy next couple of weeks, Vegas!
