Installation of the roof has begun at Allegiant Stadium, the new home of the Las Vegas Raiders, who are scheduled to open play this season. The first roof panels were installed on Monday, beginning a process that’s expected to last through May. The roof will be translucent and the panels are made of ETFE, a flourine based plastic. The panels are designed to let in sunlight and give the stadium an open air feel on game days. Construction on the $2 billion stadium has remained mostly on schedule and country singer Garth Brooks is scheduled to officially open the stadium with a concert on August 22. The only question is, will the coronavirus pandemic have subsided enough by then to allow the concert and subsequent Raiders and UNLV football games to take place? Let’s hope so!
