Bubba Knight celebrates 78th Birthday with a new song dedicated to essential workers
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and global music icon Bubba Knight (of Gladys Knight & The Pips) celebrates his 78th Birthday by honoring the heroes and sheroes during this worldwide fight against COVID-19. Four-time Grammy Award winner and CEO of PipCo Music was moved to pen “Thank You For The Love” after hearing that his relative was quarantined and dying alone and that the nurses and doctors were kind enough to set up a FaceTime call for her so she and her children could say goodbye. The inspiration for the song came to him and he began to write “Doctors, Nurses, and Frontline Workers, you stepped into this Coronavirus lion’s den, you’re our medicine.”
During this tumultuous time, there are so many unsung men and women who risk their lives on a daily basis to bring comfort to the families of those suffering from this deadly disease. In the wake of the current global pandemic, we must take a moment and say thank you to the millions of workers who continue to serve and protect the world.
“We have seen you working at the hospitals, manning local testing sites throughout the country, balancing your job, family and homeschooling your children, delivering mail, packages, and food. Mr. Knight realized that we all are facing many personal difficulties because of COVID-19. The world recognizes the hard work, the long hours, and the unwavering compassion that all the frontline workers perform. Their dedication will forever be etched in our hearts.” “I could not imagine a better way for me to celebrate my 78th year on this earth than by sharing my gratitude to our Frontline Workers through this song,” said Knight.
“Thank You For The Love” features the smooth melodic vocals of famed songstress Rachel Oliver-Cobbin (former lead vocalist of Atlantic Starr). Mrs. Oliver- Cobbin said “Having met Mr. Knight in 1986 where they were both judging the Miss Black America Pageant which I was crowned the first Miss Black America, it was there that I knew that I had met one of the most caring, and wonderful people, who wanted to use his gift of entertainment to affect change in this world. Fast-forwarding some 30 years and my move to Las Vegas sparked this opportunity for us to work together on this wonderful song, that honors such wonderful human beings.”
I am truly honored to have my voice on this song, singing such beautiful lyrics to such a beautiful melody, I thank God for blessing this song.
“Thank You For The Love” is available on all music-streaming platforms and will also be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming film “The French Defense” produced by Broadway In The HOOD.
