EDMONTON, ALBERTA - SEPTEMBER 14: Corey Perry #10 of the Dallas Stars celebrates as the game-winning goal by teammate Denis Gurianov (not pictured) goes past Robin Lehner #90 of the Vegas Golden Knights to give the stars the 3-2 overtime victory in Game Five of the Western Conference Final during the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Rogers Place on September 14, 2020 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Facing elimination in their Western Conference series against Dallas, the Vegas Golden Knights couldn’t hold a 2-0 third period lead and fell 3-2 in overtime. A delay of game penalty on Vegas defenseman Zach Whitecloud gave Dallas a power play two minutes into overtime and they capitalized, sending the Knights home for the season. Dallas was the bigger, stronger team and did a better job of clogging the net in front of the Vegas goal and punching in rebounds. Chandler Stephenson and Reilly Smith each scored a goal for the Knights, who finish the season as Pacific Division champions and have made the playoffs in each of their first three seasons including a trip to the Stanley Cup finals in their inaugural season. The Knights main priority in the offseason will be figuring out their goalie situation as both Robin Lehner and Marc-Andre Fleury are free agents. Thanks Knights, for another great season!
