Facing elimination in their Western Conference series against Dallas, the Vegas Golden Knights couldn’t hold a 2-0 third period lead and fell 3-2 in overtime. A delay of game penalty on Vegas defenseman Zach Whitecloud gave Dallas a power play two minutes into overtime and they capitalized, sending the Knights home for the season. Dallas was the bigger, stronger team and did a better job of clogging the net in front of the Vegas goal and punching in rebounds. Chandler Stephenson and Reilly Smith each scored a goal for the Knights, who finish the season as Pacific Division champions and have made the playoffs in each of their first three seasons including a trip to the Stanley Cup finals in their inaugural season. The Knights main priority in the offseason will be figuring out their goalie situation as both Robin Lehner and Marc-Andre Fleury are free agents. Thanks Knights, for another great season!
