The Las Vegas Aces earned a double bye in the WNBA playoffs so when their Western Conference semifinal best-of-five series against Connecticut opened on Sunday, some rust was to be expected as the team hadn’t played in a week. The layoff showed as Connecticut easily beat the Aces 87-62 in Bradenton, FL. Aces coach Bill Laimbeer said “We got beat. We got beat soundly.” Vegas couldn’t stop Connecticut point guard, who late in the third quarter had as many points herself, 31, as the Aces had as a team. Vegas only had two players in double figures, A’ja Wilson with 19 and Jackie Young with 17. Game two is Tuesday at 6pm.
