As the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage across the country, cases have been on the upswing here in Nevada as well. Governor Steve Sisolak took a rapid Covid test last Friday which came back positive and it was announced yesterday that a subsequent lab test was positve as well. The governor has been experiencing mild symptoms and is quarantining. Members of his staff who have been deemed to have been in close contact will be required to quarantine as well. All public events for the governor have been cancelled but he’s working remotely with staff and Cabinet members. As cases have surged in the state, Gov. Sisolak has been urging residents to go back to staying home as much as possible. He said in a statement that his positive test “puts a spotlight” on how serious the situation has once again become.
