After an abbreviated preseason, the NBA regular season officially got underway on Tuesday night with two games. The defending champion and newly crowned L.A. Lakers got their championship rings before battling their arena mates and in city rivals the Clippers. Paul George scored 33 points and Kahwi Leonard added 26 as the Clippers bested the Lakers 116-109 inside an empty Staples Center. LeBron James had 22 points and Anthony Davis scored 18 for the Lakers. In Tuesday night’s other game, Kevin Durant returned to the court after an almost two year absence due to injury wearing a Brooklyn Nets uniform and scored 22 points in a 125-99 rout of Golden State.
