Did you know Shirley Chisholm (1924 – 2005)  was the first black woman elected to Congress. She represented the 12th District in New York from 1969 – 1983. Then in 1972 she became the first woman to run for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. During her campaign she had a slogan: “Unbought and Unbossed”.
