In a recent conference call, Frank Fertita, the CEO of Red Rock Resorts which is the parent company of Station Casinos, said that the Texas Station, the Fiesta Hotels on Rancho and in Henderson, and the Palms Hotel and Casino will remain closed until tourism comes back to pre-pandemic levels. Mr. Fertita said that knowing that the closed properties would generate positive cash flow is a most important factor in deciding when to reopen. He said that because the Texas and Fiestas are locals oriented properties the company wants to monitor Covid vaccination levels among senior citizens, who comprise a large part of those properties clientele. He also said that capacity restrictions factor into the company’s decision to leave those properties closed for the time being. The Palms attracts more tourists and officials would like to see tourism return to normal levels before considering reopening.
