Gov. Steve Sisolak announced on Tuesday that the state will lift all social distancing mandates on May 1, with a goal of reopening the state’s businesses to 100 percent capacity by June 1. Sisolak said that the requirement to wear a mask in public will remain in place however and counties don’t have the authority to override that. Lifting the social distancing mandate means that businesses will no longer be required to keep customers six feet apart, easing the way to be able to operate at 100 percent capacity. Individual counties will have the final say on how fast they reopen. Rural Nye County plans to move to 100 percent capacity as soon as possible while Clark and Washoe counties will take a more cautious approach.
