Knights Fall To Colorado, Fail To Clinch Division
The Vegas Golden Knights missed out on a huge opportunity to clinch the Western Division crown, the President’s Trophy for best record, and home ice throughout the playoffs as they got edged on Monday night by Colorado 2-1 in front of 7,567 fans at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas got a first period goal from Alex Pietrangelo and put pressure on Colorado throughout the game, outshooting the Avalanche 37-21. Colorado tied the game in the second period and scored the eventual game winner halfway through the third. Vegas was hampered by injuries as both leading scorer Max Pacioretty and defenseman Ryan Reaves didn’t play. The Knights will close out the regular season on Wednesday at San Jose and must win and hope for Colorado to lose at least one of it’s last two games, both against L.A., in order to secure the number one seed.
