Sha’Carri Richardson Tests Positive For Marijuana, Can’t Run Olympic 100
U.S. sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, who qualified for the 100 meter dash in 10.86 seconds at the Olympic trials recently, has tested positive for marijuana and won’t be able to participate in that race in the upcoming Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Richardson tested positive during the recent trials and her results were erased. She received a 30 day suspension which ends July 27 so she may be able to run in the women’s relays. Richardson revealed her suspension on the “Today” show this morning (Friday) saying “I’m human,” and that she smoked marijuana to help her cope with the recent death of her mother.
