‘The King Of Crenshaw’ Podcast Will Explore Nipsey Hussle’s Sports Legacy
A new podcast is in the works with a new perspective on the late Nipsey Hussle.
According to Uproxx, the podcast will be presented by 30 For 30 Podcasts and The Undefeated, with a four-part series called The King Of Crenshaw that will explore the legacy of the late rapper in sports.
The King Of Crenshaw will “focus on how the late Nipsey Hussle’s life, death, and legacy deeply impacted the sports world” and “examine how that overlap of Black male creativity, talent, and ambition will forever live on in Nipsey’s responsibility to his neighborhood. And how NBA players are vowing to continue his marathon moving forward,” per ESPN.
The podcast will have guests such as NBA All-Stars Isaiah Thomas, DeMar DeRozan, DeMarcus Cousins, plus Nipsey’s brother Blacc Sam. “Everyone knows I’m a huge Nipsey fan,” Cousins, who plays for the LA Clippers, said per Uproxx. “He’s more to me than just a rapper. He’s an icon.”
Hussle would have just celebrated his 36th birthday this week; he was tragically killed back in 2019 in front of the clothing store he opened in his neighborhood.
His wife, actress Lauren London — whom the rapper shares a four-year-old son with — penned a sweet message to Instagram for his birthday, “Happy Birthday My King! I Love You Today and Forever Missing you is just a part of my DNA and I wear it with honor. Kross reminded me that you are “36” like me. 💙✨ 1 of 1 Hussle The Great there will never ever be another.”
All four episodes of The King Of Crenshaw will drop on 8/23 on ESPN.
