After last’s years’ fanless college football and NFL season, it was a joy to see fans come out and enjoy Las Vegas’ newest jewel, Allegiant Stadium this past weekend.
The UNV Rebels football team, which now plays its’ home games at Allegiant, welcomed over 21,000 fans last Thursday. Even though the Rebels lost to Eastern Washington 35-33 in double OT, it was a great atmosphere for both the home team and the visitors.
Las Vegas and southern Nevada is known for it’s huge contingent of BYU fans and they came out in force on Saturday to watch the Cougars battle Arizona, which has it’s own loyal Las Vegas following, in the Las Vegas Kickoff Classic. Allegiant Stadium was packed with almost 55,000 fans, the largest crowd ever for a football game in the state of Nevada. BYU beat Arizona 24-16.
Look for a sellout crowd next Monday night at Allegiant when the Raiders will host Baltimore.
