Las Vegas lost an historic landmark on Friday when the iconic Mt. Charleston Lodge was destroyed by an early morning fire.

The fire was reported around 4:45am on Friday morning and fire crews were on the scene by 5am where they found the main building of the lodge already engulfed in flames. The adjacent cabins at the lodge escaped damage and guests in the cabins were safely evacuated.

The main building of the lodge which housed its’ restaurant was deemed a total loss and no cause for the fire has been determined as of yet.

Access to some road and trails around the lodge may be restricted as investigators continue to try and determine the cause of the fire and make sure there’s no other danger to the area.

Note…in an update to this story, fire investigators have determined that the fire was accidental.
