It was a good weekend for the UNLV football team and the Runnin’ Rebels men’s basketball team.
The Rebel football team got it’s second win of the season and second win in a row on Saturday afternoon, beating Hawaii 27-13 at Allegiant Stadium. Charles Williams ran for 266 yards on 38 carries with three touchdowns to carry the Rebels’ attack. His 38 carries broke the previous record for most carries in a game set by Ickey Woods with 37 in 1987.
Hawaii scored a touchdown on a 74 yard pass play on the game’s first play but UNLV’s defense was stout the rest of the way, holding the Rainbow Warriors to 161 yards of offense the rest of the game. The Rebels will face a much tougher test as first place San Diego State comes to town this Friday for an 8:30pm game at Allegiant Stadium.
The Runnin’ Rebels men’s hoops team got its’ second win of the season as they topped Cal on Saturday 55-52. giving new coach Kevin Kruger his second win in as many tries. UNLV plays North Dakota State today at 7pm at the Thomas & Mack Center.
