Local Retailers Say Watch Out For Xmas Tree Shortage
Local live Christmas tree retailers say that high demand this year and limited supply may result in a Christmas tree shortage as the holiday approaches. Christmas tree shoppers are advised to get their tree early.
The American Christmas Tree Association says that supply chain issues and droughts and wildfires in the Pacific Northwest are among the factors contributing to an expected shortage of live trees. The supply chain issues could even affect the availability of artificial trees, which are mostly made in China.
The regional manager for local retailer Moon Valley Nurseries says that low demand over the last few years led Oregon Xmas tree farmers to plant fewer trees, resulting now in less trees being mature and ready for harvest.
