Kanye West Investigated For Alleged Criminal Battery

Kanye West is being named as a suspect for an alleged battery that occurred early Thursday morning, TMZ reports. LAPD is currently investigating the incident.

Law enforcement sources told the gossip site that the Donda rapper got into an argument around 3 a.m. in downtown LA that allegedly turned physical. Ye allegedly pushed someone and the incident is being investigated as a misdemeanor battery that carries a maximum jail sentence of 6 months.

The gossip site has a video of Ye sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning shouting, “Did y’all say that or not? Did y’all say that or not?” “Cuz that’s what happened right f—— now.”

It is unclear who Ye was speaking to in the video.

In 2003, he was in a car accident that almost killed him and the resulted in his mouth mouth being wired shut; he underwent emergency surgery to put a metal plate in his chin. During his time in the hospital, he heard Chaka's "Through The Fire" and created lyrics that conceptualized what he was feeling at the time, a new appreciation of life. "Through The Wire" was West's first single leading the way for his debut album, The College Dropout, in 2004. The song was nominated for "Best Rap Solo Performance" at the 2004 Grammys.
