As quite a few teams have done in the past. the Las Vegas Raiders looked to one of the league’s most successful franchises, the New England Patriots, in their search for a new general manager and head coach.
The Raiders got their men, hiring away New England’s director of player personnel Dave Ziegler to be the new GM and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to be the new head coach. The men were hired after interviewing with Raiders owner Mark Davis.
McDaniels has been New England’s offensive coordinator since 2012. McDaniels was also the Denver Broncos head coach from 2009 to 2010, going 11-17. He also was hired as the Colts head coach in 2018 but decided not to take the job.
It’s already being reported that some of the Raiders players are not happy with the hiring of McDaniels and would’ve preferred to see the job go to interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, who took over after Jon Gruden was relieved of his duties and led the team to the playoffs.
