Knights Captain Mark Stone Out Indefinitely
The Vegas Golden Knights announced on Monday that team captain Mark Stone will be placed on the injured reserve list indefinitely due to a recurring back injury. Stone missed 12 games early in the season and four more games during the extended holiday break with the back issue. Knights’ GM Kelly McKrimmon says the team doesn’t know exactly what the problem is with Stone’s back but the hope is that he won’t need surgery. Stone has seen numerous specialists and undergone a number of diagnostic exams. There’s no timetable for his return.
The team also announced on Monday that center Jack Eichel, acquired in a trade with Buffalo in November, will make his debut on Wednesday night when the Knights host Colorado. Eichel has been recovering and rehabbing from a neck injury that required artificial disc replacement surgery.
After tomorrow night’s game against Colorado, the Knights play the L.A. Kings on Friday at 7pm at T-Mobile Arena. The Knights are holding on to first place in the Pacific Division by one point over Calgary.
