The Mob Museum In Downtown Las Vegas Is Expanding
Celebrating its 10 year anniversary in downtown Las Vegas and serving over 1,000 visitors a day on average, the Mob Museum is expanding its footprint with the purchase of a nearly 30,000 square-foot patch of land at Stewart Avenue and 4th Street.
The Mob Museum is a non-profit organization with a mission to advance the public understanding of organized crime’s history and impact on American society. The Museum offers a provocative, contemporary look at these topics through hundreds of artifacts and immersive exhibits.
In a Facebook post, the museum wrote, “The Mob Museum has acquired nearly 30,000 square feet of vacant land to the east of our main building. We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead! Watch our social media for more details in the coming months.”
This new land purchase comes five months after the organization’s 10th anniversary, and the price of this purchase hasn’t been disclosed, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
One of the last renovations to the Mob Museum was in 2012. That particular renovation was one of the first phases to the “Museum’s largest capital improvement project since opening on February 14, 2012,” according to a press release from the museum. The total cost of renovations was $9 million.
Flashback to the 1920’s and experience the Prohibition era by stepping into the underground Speakeasy and Distillery. Visit the Mob Museum’s website for tour tickets and information.
The land purchase will allow The Mob Museum to add additional exhibits as well as provide room for food and beverage facilities.
As mentioned on their Twitter page, The Mob Museum‘s youth outreach program, “Investigating History” provides education on the science of fingerprint analysis and Las Vegas history. The program is scheduled to run through the end of the month.
We're partnering with @LVCCLD to present our award-winning outreach program, Investigating History, to youth across the Las Vegas Valley and beyond! From June 1-July 31, learn about the science of fingerprint analysis and Las Vegas history.
