A’ja Wilson went off for 33 points and 13 rebounds, leading the Las Vegas Aces to a 78-73 win over Seattle in the WNBA semifinals on Wednesday night at Michelob Ultra Arena in front of another packed house. The series is now tied 1-1.

After being held to only eight points in the series opener last Sunday, Wilson came out firing. She ended up shooting 12-of-18 from the field and 8-of-11 from the free throw line in posting her career playoff scoring high.

Kelsey Plum added 18 points for Vegas and teammate Chelsea Gray chipped in with 19 points and seven assists and kept Seattle at bay late in the game with some clutch baskets.

Once again, the Aces had to dig themselves out of an early hole as the Storm’s Breanna Stewart was on fire and Seattle led by as much as nine in the first half. Stewart finished with 32 points and seven rebounds for the Storm. Wilson kept her team in the game though and the Aces managed to tie the game at 36 all at halftime.

Kelsey Plum provided a second half spark for Vegas with nine third quarter points. Seattle pulled  to within two points with 19 seconds remaining in the game but Vegas made their free throws down the stretch to ice the much needed win.

The series now moves to Seattle for game three on Sunday. Game time is 12 noon.
