UNLV Runnin Rebels Struggling After Hot Start
What’s wrong with the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels men’s basketball team? After a scorching start to the non-conference season which saw UNLV get off to an 11-1 start including wins over then # 21 ranked Dayton, Big Ten team Minnesota, and Pac-12 team Washington State, the Rebels have stumbled mightily as conference play has started.
UNLV has a conference record of 1-5 after their four point loss loss to Utah State on Tuesday. The Rebels overall record is 12-6. Except for an 18 point loss to Boise State, UNLV hasn’t been blown out in any of their other losses. Their defense, which propelled them to their hot start has continued to be relatively stout but the Rebels are blowing leads and failing to finish off their opponents late in games.
The Rebels will try to improve their conference record in upcoming games but it won’t be easy. UNLV is on the road this Saturday at Fresno State at 3pm and then return home for games against Wyoming next Tuesday at 8pm followed by a tilt against in state rival UNR next Saturday, January 28 at 7pm.
Let’s hope the Runnin’ Rebels can pull it together and get back on the winning track!
