WNBA Rookies Want To Play With Heart Not Hate
We are 11-13 games into the WNBA season and this has already been a rollercoaster ride for these rookies. But now it’s time to move on from the elephant in the room. Let Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and all the other rookies play.
WNBA Hype: No Room For Hate
It seems every week it’s Caitlin Clark this or Angel Reese that and it’s taking away from the dignity and integrity of basketball. All of the drama between these two women is causing more negativity to the league as well as a division of people. I have heard, that Clark has a majority white following and they hate Angel, and It’s the same for Reese having a majority black following. It all goes back to the Caitlin Clark taunt against Reese in college that seemed ok when she did it, but when Reese taunted her back she got a lot of backlash for it.

These are the people who seem to make it easy to forget about the other great WNBA players and teams who have exciting and competitive games. There’s too much drama that surrounds these two rookies. They are forever tied to each other and it just got spicier with the Angel Reese smack of Caitlin Clark in the head that drew a flagrant one foul as the Chicago Sky fell to the Indiana Fever. Fans once again chose sides saying it was dirty, But in my opinion, It’s called playing hard and that’s part of the game. I watched the replay several times and it looked as if Reese was going for the block, not the head! Judge for yourself.
Clark hit both free throws to finish with 23 points eight rebounds, nine assists and the win. She is now 2-0 against Reese and the third game coming up this Sunday.
The Difference Between The Two Rookies
I love watching Caitlin Clark, And I feel she has a great upside and a bigger game than Angel Reese. However, She needs an offseason to get stronger and continue to grow defensively. But I can say the same for most rookies. Angel Reese, Is a great shooter but according to espn.com, she recorded her seventh game shooting 33.3 percent or below from the field. She gets double-doubles every game because she rebounds her own misses. It’s not like she can’t shoot, she just needs to work on her game confidence and not worry about the nay-sayers.
Both athletes need to work hard in the off-season on their offensive package. But enough is enough! End the drama and admire the game. Even the women in the WNBA must end their ill feelings toward Clark and Reese and just enjoy the newfound fanbase that these players have brought to the WNBA. Allow the people who never would have watched a WNBA game to enjoy the excitement these women bring to the sport. If not they will tear down their sport and people will start to tune out again.
