2024 NBA Free Agency Makes Interesting Changes
After the Lackluster NBA draft, many teams started scrambling trying to find pieces in the Free Agency market to complete their team and start their next quest for an NBA championship.
NBA Draft Picks And Steals
One team in particular that always has fans on edge is the LA Lakers. After watching the draft in which their 1st round pick Dalton Knecht was an actual steal, some fans were a little disappointed at the 2nd round pick Bronny James. But let’s be honest, we all knew he was going to the Lakers. According to Sports.yahoo.com, “One of the biggest storylines throughout James’ journey to the NBA is, of course, his famous father and doubts about his own talent”. The question is how much pressure is really on Bronny?
NBA Top Free Agents And Their New Destination
NBA top free agents Paul George, Klay Thompson, and an aging Chris Paul were the headlines. The Lakers could only lure one of the top players if their star took a pay cut or risked going way over the luxury tax. It was rumored that LeBron called Klay right after the draft. It was also rumored that he said he would take a pay cut. Yet Paul George signed a 4-year, $212 million dollar deal to go to Philadelphia to join Joel Embiid. Klay Thompson signed a 3-year $50 million with Dallas, and Chris Paul decided to join the Spurs in the development of Victor Wembanyama.

According to Darius Rice LeBron James’ focus will be on developing and helping his son more than winning. It makes me wonder why no one other than his son wants to play with James in the NBA. Maybe it’s because they don’t want to play for an inexperienced coach in JJ Reddick? Or maybe the Lakers are just flat broke. Well, we all know that’s not the case.
According to the New York Times, LeBron James plans to sign a two-year, $104 million maximum deal to return to the Los Angeles Lakers. And on second thought, with Anthony Davis and LeBron taking all the money, and other overpaid role players, that might be the real answer. D’Angelo Russell decided to stay and that left no money for the Lakers to spend. It’s really about to be “Showtime!”
