The internet was in shock and in celebration after a social media user shined light on a particular birthday.
The internet has been blowing up this week as fans have been pointing out what is thought to be George Jetson‘s date of birth… July 31, 2022.
If that’s true then mathematically, The Jetsons took place in the year 2062.
It’s definitely an interesting concept that we’re now celebrating the birthday of our favorite cartoon character from the past. Social media users joked about the cartoon character’s birthday and even reminisced about the classic cartoon that served as the foundation to many of our childhood memories.
The Hanna-Barbera produced cartoon about a futuristic family named, “The Jetsons” was intended to be a counterpart to the already established stone-aged family, “The Flintstones“.
The Jetsons family consisted of George Jetson as the head of the household, his wife Jane, daughter Judy, son Elroy, and their dog Astro. This cartoon served as the perfect example of Americana culture and gave insight into the quintessential “nuclear family” with a futuristic twist.
According to his character’s biography on Hanna-Barbera Wiki, George Jetson is a 40 year old loving family man who always seems to make the wrong decision. He works full-time, 15 hours a week at Spaceley’s Sprockets as a computer engineer.
The Jetsons premiered in prime time on Sunday night September 23, 1962 with 24 original weekly episodes then made the move to Saturday mornings for the 1963-1964 season. It was the first television show to be broadcast in color on ABC.
It wasn’t until 1985 that additional episodes were produced. In 1990, Universal Pictures released a full-length feature film to serve as the show’s finale.
