Fall Activities Ranked, Pumpkin Spice Has Been Dethroned. The official start of fall is September 22 so that means, it’s time to put the summer and beach activity bins away and break out the fall stuff. Now, different parts of the country have different activities but one thing is consistent. It definitely is time to break out the sweaters and coats as the weather is getting cooler everywhere. And when it comes to fall activities, there is still hype behind the pumpkin spice flavors but we’re not hearing as much as previous years. Sure, we still love our pumpkin flavor in coffee and teas. But there’s nothing better than being able to hide behind big baggy warm clothing.

One thing that most of us do not look forward to in the fall is daylight savings time. This typically makes it so it gets darker earlier.  Daylight saving time is coming to an end for 2024 on Nov. 3, the first Sunday in November. Clocks will “fall back” one hour at 2 a.m. on Nov. 3, granting most people an extra hour of sleep. That’s the good thing. But getting darker earlier is something most of us do NOT look forward to.

So when it comes to fall activities, we’ve ranked the most talked about. We’re going with our guts here. There’s no formula or mathematical equation as to how we got our list. Just good old fashioned but feelings. So here are our favorite fall activities ranked.

  • #6 Pumpkin carving

While the result of carving a pumpkin is festive looking, the actual chore of it is not fun at all. Sure it can be a fun family activity but it take a lot of upper body strength. And for it to look good, you really gotta have some talent.

  • #5 Apple picking

Another example of the result being a lot more rewarding than the actual activity. Actually looking for apples in big fields is pretty boring. It brings the family together but let’s be honest. Most of us do it for the photo ops and for a chance to say we’re doing it.

  • #4 Hayrides, corn mazes

Taking a hayride or stroll through a corn maze can be a fun family activity. Just don’t get lost where you can’t get out. And definitely do not let the kids wander off alone.

  • #3 Halloween decorating

For many of us, Halloween is the best time of year. Decorating the house, the yard and everywhere else to look like scary monster scenes is the ultimate of entertainment. Whether you want to scare people or purpose or just have some fun themes with pumpkins and bails of hay, decorating can be so soothing.

  • #2 Pumpkin Spice everything

A controversial choice for #2. Many people love pumpkin spice. It’s the flavor they look forward to all year long. While we don’t disagree, there is one other thing about fall that tops our list.

  • #1 SWEATER WEATHER!

Who doesn’t love breaking out their sweaters, scarves, boots and hats? It’s the season where being cozy is acceptable. Wear big baggy warm clothes. Wear boots and flannels. It’s okay!
