It’s that time of year again. No matter where we go over the next few weeks we’ll be besieged by merry melodies of sipping eggnog and delicious chestnuts roasting over open fires. The grocery store, the mall, even the Department of Motor Vehicles isn’t exempt from the jingling of bells and harmonious hymns of yesteryear spilling out from its surround sound public address system.
Sure, we’re guilty of it as well but that’s what we do. You expect your favorite radio station to play a variety of your favorite Christmas songs from past and present this time of year. From TLC‘s “Sleigh Ride” to Jose Feliciano‘s “Feliz Navidad“, we play the songs that put a smile on your face.
But let’s be honest, one can only handle so many hours of that squeaky clean goodness that is Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, and Mariah Carey. Some of us have a taste for the “harder” side of holiday cheer. So, when you’ve had your fill of providing background vocals for Grandma’s third Christmas karaoke performance and the youngsters are busy in the other room watching Frozen, press play on these not-so-traditional Christmas classics to get crunked up.
