Minor League Baseball Cancelled, No Games For Aviators
Major League Baseball announced yesterday that it is cancelling the minor league baseball season for this summer, which means no games for the Las Vegas Aviators. The Aviators are the minor league affiliate of the Oakland A’s. The move to cancel the minor league season is due to the coronavirus pandemic. The MLB is moving forward with plans to play a 60 game season starting in late July and teams say they won’t be providing players to their minor league affiliates. Major league teams will be allowed to carry 60 players on their rosters, limiting the amount of players available to send to minor league teams. Also, minor league teams don’t get the same type of TV revenue that big league clubs do, so playing games with no fans wouldn’t be cost effective. The Aviators are offering a variety of reimbursement plans for individuals and groups who have already purchased season or single game tickets for this season.
