Will There Be A “Black Friday” This Year?
The coronavirus pandemic has affected almost every facet of our everyday life this year. With Thanksgiving just a couple of days away, people are wondering how the pandemic will affect one of the most enduring rituals of Thanksgiving week, the huge shopping day known as “Black Friday,” which takes place the day after Turkey Day. Retailers look forward to packed stores and shoppers look forward to incredible sales to kick off the holiday shopping season. Some retailers have even taken to being open on Thanksgiving Day to give shoppers a jump on the crowds on Black Friday. This year Black Friday will be a little different with retailers offering more online shopping options in an effort to keep down the crowds. Across the country, many stores and shopping malls have restrictions on how many people can patronize at any one time. Some retailers such as Bath & Body Works, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Macy’s. Home Depot, Sam’s Club, and Target have announced that they won’t be open on Thanksgiving Day. Those same stores will be open on Black Friday but if you plan on shopping in person you may want to call your favorite retailers to check their hours and what restrictions they’ll have in place. Happy shopping!
