Mirage To Cease All Midweek Hotel Operations Temporarily Starting In 2021
The Mirage Hotel and Casino on the Strip is joining the list of hotels that are closed midweek but with a catch. While some properties have closed only their hotel towers midweek but still have the casino portion open, the Mirage announced that starting in 2021 it will close its’ entire property midweek from noon on Mondays until noon on Thursdays. Even the famous Mirage volcano will be inactive during the week. The midweek closure will last at least through February and the parent company of the Mirage, MGM Resorts International, says it will continue to evaluate the situation to determine how long the closure will last. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has proved too much for many properties on the Strip to handle as visitation and visitor spending are down considerably. The loss of midweek convention business and conventions overall is also affecting properties’ bottom line. The Encore And Wynn, Park MGM, Planet Hollywood, and Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, and the Venetian are other Strip properties that have closed their hotel rooms midweek but the casinos remain open during the week.
