Nevada Forecast: Expect Hotter Temperatures This Weekend
It may be one of the last cold days in Nevada for quite a while.
The National Weather Service said that another warming trend should be expected this weekend across southern Nevada. The temperature is expected to climb about 20 degrees higher throughout this weekend.
The highs for this weekend are expected to reach 85-to-90 degrees, giving residents a sneak peek of summer temperatures. But, for Las Vegas, anything under 100 degrees is pretty “tame.”
RENO
Up state in Reno, residents can expect warmer temperatures for the Nevada forecast, too. After a few cold and breezy days that were also well below the average temperatures, Reno residents can expect highs up to the 50s. In the Sierra Valleys, the high will be a tad more cooler with the NWS estimating highs reaching the 30s-to-40s range.
“Temperatures will slowly warm into a more suitable Spring-like range for the second half of the week,” the National Weather Service states.
However, overnight lows will dip into below freezing temperatures tonight and tomorrow even in the warmest part of the valleys for this Nevada forecast.
Due to temperatures dropping to below freezing, the National Weather Service issued a warning saying irrigation may need to be turned off, so exposed pipes can be protected.
“Irrigation systems left on or leaking excess water could lead to ice glazed sidewalks and driveways that increase the chance of falls,” the weather service states.
But, the cold temperatures will subside later this week. On Thursday afternoon, temperatures are expected to go into the mid to high 70s for lower valleys.
ELKO
For our Elko folks, the weather will be a tad bit cooler compared to cities like Reno, Las Vegas and more.
Elko residents can expect more scattered snow showers and flurries, which are estimated to take place north of the I-80. The National Weather Service says gradual warming starts tomorrow with highs in the 40s and 50s.
