Great Ways To Celebrate Juneteenth 2024 In Vegas
Every year, the Las Vegas Valley represents for the black community in their celebrations of Juneteenth. And Juneteenth 2024 is no exception. There are many organizations having festivals and events this year that you might want to stop by.
Juneteenth 2024 Celebrating An Important Moment In History
Juneteenth, short for “June Nineteenth”, is celebrated every year to remember the first event that led to the end of slavery. According to stpetersburg.usf.edu, it dates back to 1865 when 250,000 slaves in the state of Texas were officially declared free by the U.S. Army. And even though it took many years for slavery to completely be abolished, that date marks the beginning of what many in America consider the second Independence Day.
