DJ Khaled Gets Rare Air Jordans from Michael Jordan, Celebrates Music Milestones
DJ Khaled just received one of the rarest sneaker gifts imaginable—from none other than Michael Jordan himself. The legendary basketball star sent Khaled a pair of special edition Air Jordans, and they’re one of only 23 pairs in exclusive packaging.
Khaled took to Instagram to share the exciting moment, revealing a fresh take on the first-ever Air Jordans. Originally released in 1985 when Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls, these new kicks stay true to the original design, featuring the iconic black and red colorway. According to Khaled, they’re made with “the OG specs, no extras.”
But the sneakers didn’t come in just any box. They arrived locked inside a crate, requiring Khaled to text Jordan himself for the code. Despite being on the golf course, MJ responded quickly:
“Khaled, you should know the code already. It’s 1985. Let me get back to golfing.”
After unlocking the crate, Khaled found the sneakers inside a gold box. Jordan reminded him just how rare they are, adding, “Only 23 with the special packaging. Keep it safe. Me and you the first ones to get ‘em.”
Khaled couldn’t contain his excitement, captioning his post:
“Special package ALERT! U can’t ban greatness. U can’t stop greatness. MJ, thank u for inspiring us and letting us know—you can’t stop what’s destined to win.
“Dem sent it locked up, so I had to hit MJ for the passcode—OF COURSE it’s 1985—the year of greatness! Thank you for this beautiful gift—only 1 of 23. Thank you, Michael Jordan, thank you, Reggie Saunders. It’s an honor to be a part of the family.”
And Khaled’s winning streak doesn’t stop there. According to the RIAA, the We the Best mogul just earned 17 new certifications on January 29, adding to his impressive collection—including a new diamond plaque for “I’m the One.”
Other standout achievements include Rihanna and Bryson Tiller’s “Wild Thoughts” reaching 8x platinum, along with hits like “Wish Wish,” “Pop Star” with Drake, and anthems such as “I’m on One,” “No New Friends,” and “Take It to the Head.”
Khaled celebrated his success with another Instagram post, writing:
“#FANLUV SWIPE ALERT DJ KHALED OVER 75 MILLION + RECS SOLD. Also, here’s 17 new @riaa_awards certifications alert! Thank you for over 20 years of riding with me, supporting @wethebest, and spreading LOVE!”
He continued: “75 MILLION RECORDS SOLD! And counting! Bless up @riaa_awards and all my partners! #WILDTHOUGHTS with the queen @badgalriri 8X PLATINUM #IMTHEONE DIAMOND And 17 new certifications!”
