Nicki Minaj Has A Lot To Say About Cardi B In Newest Interview
Cardi B, you may have hurt the wrong girl.
There’s a constant comparison to Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, and when Cardi’s new album dropped, many were saying Nicki would come out of hiding because of it. Nicki has been in the studio, virtually not on social media, and more, but once ‘Invasion of Privacy’ was released, Nicki dropped 2 singles, and started hitting the spotlight again. So why now?
Well, she had a little chat with Zane Lowe, and one of the things she addressed was Cardi.
Quoted by HotNewHipHop:
“I remember when I first came in the game, if a female of that stature had done a feature with me on it, I would only be singing their praises and saying thank you. The first interview she did after “Motorsport” came out, it just really hurt me. She looked so aggravated and angry. The only thing she said was “oh, I didn’t hear that I didn’t hear that verse.” Like what?”
We’re not exactly sure what Cardi would need to thank Nicki for, given she didn’t put her on the track, but you could understand that the girls should be glad-handing each other on working creatively together in some capacity, or, y’know, listening to the full song. She did, however, mention that Cardi did say nice things about her on Instagram and that made her “feel good” since she said something”genuinely nice about her.”
XXL sites another line from the interview where Nicki says, “I have never seen her show me any genuine love during an interview… I just see how many girls wish they had been on a song with Nicki Minaj.” XXL explains that what she’s referring to is “Cardi claimed that the Nicki verse she heard before she recorded her own 16 for the track was different than the one that ended up on the final version,” which came off like she meant that Nicki may have changed her verses up so she wouldn’t get buried. She asked Quavo to back her up on the fact that she wasn’t lying, and according to her, he told her “I would go on Twitter and back you up if you were my girl lol.”
Nicki also took to Twitter to denounce some rumors that involved Quavo and Atlantic, in regards to its Cardi references (she uses the song title “Finesse” in it, and references how they’re making her the villain):
How can you say someone changed their verse & forget to say Quavo TOLD me to remove my singing part (which I loved) & Atlantic told me to remove your name from my verse per your request? So how were those changes gonna happen if I didn’t “change” my verse? 😩🤣 #NickiDay #ChunLi

“Barbie Tingz” also talks about the chicks that steal her style and look to get ahead, which once again, seems like a cheap swipe toward Cardi too.
Personally, if I’m going to look at ‘Invasion of Privacy’ versus “Chun-Li” and “Barbie Tingz,” I’m calling Cardi the winner. I would rather her Nicki talk about being proud of herself, gettin’ money with Drake and Weezy, and being a bad b****, rather than her rapping about how people are copying her on not one, but two tracks. I, however, don’t want to pin the ladies against one another, because they’re both talented – and they can both make music without hating on each other.
But since people always have opinions, what do you think? Who’s coming out stronger, Cardi or Nicki?
