These artists have sang iconic anthems that most of us know. But, some of these legendary artists have yet to even hold a Grammy.
The Grammys are one of the most prestigious music awards that an artist can attain. The Academy covers multiple categories from “best album” to “song of the year” spanning various genres. Music’s finest artists gather to measure their success based on the Academy nominations.
The Grammys are a major star-studded production from the red-carpet attire to elaborate stage performances. This is the time to see some of your favorite artists showcase their talents.
According to Grammy.com, “On May 4, 1959, many of music’s elite including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Gene Autry, Johnny Mercer, Henry Mancini and André Previn gathered for a black-tie dinner and awards presentation inside the Grand Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton. At the same time, other new Academy members were gathering at a function held simultaneously in New York City.”
There has been many surprises on Grammy night with often times controversial nominees and winners. This prestigious award show has been nominating outstanding work from your favorite artists for over 65 years. This year, Beyoncé broke the record for most wins in the event’s history. The previous record was held by conductor Georg Solti with 31 Grammy wins. The Queen surpassed him by one with a total of 32 wins. Beyonce was nominated and has successfully won in four categories. But, she didn’t win “album, record or song of the year.” Those went to Harry Styles, Lizzo and Bonnie Raitt respectively.
One of the most noteworthy conflicts in Grammy history was with Will Smith. After winning the “Best Rap Artist” category for his song “Parents Just Don’t Understand” with DJ Jazzy Jeff, he chose not to publicly accept the award because it wasn’t televised. Another moment was in 1990 when Milli Vanilli was stripped of their Grammy. This happened because it was revealed that they were lip synching during a performance on MTV.

Miley Cyrus
Although she comes from a family of musicians her father being Billy Ray Cyrus and her god mother being Dolly Parton, she hasn’t won a Grammy. Despite this, she has still produced and written many smash hits.
Snoop Dogg
Although Snoop Dogg has made many hits and received 16 nominations, he hasn’t won a single Grammy. Perhaps, he doesn’t fit the criteria or branding of the Academy.
