Vote To Legalize Marijuana In Canada Passes
Canada became the first major country to legalize marijuana nationwide as their Senate passed legislation on Tuesday. Canada joins Uruguay as the only other nation to allow legal marijuana use among its’ citizens. Provincial officials say it will take about eight to 12 weeks to get legal marijuana shops up and running. Some provinces will have government operated shops and others will license private shops. Candies and other edibles will not be sold and citizens will be allowed to grow up to four plants. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been an advocate for legalization and made the issue an integral part of his campaign in 2015. Some members of Canada’s Conservative Party are not happy with the bills passage.
