Big Changes Are Coming To Your Local Smith’s Store
Kroger made an announcement today that will affect how you bag your groceries.
According to WRDW, Kroger, which operates Smith’s stores, will eventually stop using plastic bags during checkout.
It will take several years to implement the change nationwide.
As of now, you won’t be able to find plastic grocery bags at Kroger officially by 2025.
However, the company said they would phase out plastic bags in their Seattle stores first.
The Seattle stores will most likely only be using paper or fabric bags by next year.
The news comes on the heels of several other companies enacting similar policies to phase out plastic straws — In an effort to reduce plastic waste.
