Discounts for Las Vegas federal furloughed employees
We’ve gathered a list of some local Las Vegas businesses and organizations who have offered support, discounts and services to those affected by the government shutdown. In order to receive the discounts, the federal employee will be required to show proof, either with a valid government-issued photo ID or recent paystub. Restaurants
Romano’s Macaroni Grill –
Offering a free plate of Mom’s Ricotta Meatballs with Spaghetti during shutdown. Just show a valid federal ID.
Aspen picnic grounds in Sunset Park –
A day of fun and food for federal furloughed workers. This is a free event for the families of government workers. The event is catered by Lisa Marie’s Kitchen. Volunteers are needed. (786) 859-1451 — Jan. 26, 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Cosmopolitan Milk Bar –
Serving of free coffee or Cereal Milk soft-serve ice cream for federal employees.
Three Square –
Distributes food to local pantries. This link will help you find your nearest location if you need food.
Gas Card Giveaway –
Attorney Paul Padda will give away $5,000 worth of gift cards to federal employees (with valid ID) who are working without pay on Sunday, Jan. 27. The event will be at 4560 S. Decatur Blvd. from 10:30am to 1:30pm. The law firm is encouraging community members to brings donations of diapers, canned food and other essential items. Free pizza and drinks will be provided to people who donate in person.
Services
RTC –
Free transit service is being provided to any furloughed federal employees until the government resumes all operations. Just show your federal ID to the bus driver.
City of Henderson –
The Department of Utility Services if offering a three-month deferment in payment for water and sewer bills. Call the utility Customer Care Center at (702) 267-5900. You will to show a pay stub. Parks and Recreation is offering deferred payment for certain services.
North Las Vegas –
Utility payments can be deferred interest-free during the shutdown. Contact the utility department at (702) 383-0365.
Wells Fargo –
The bank will reverse monthly service and late fees for federal employees on deposit accounts. Late charges will be waived for mortgage and home equity customers for up to 90 days.
Latin Chamber of Commerce –
The chamber is offering free memberships to current unpaid federal employees who are small business owners. Contact: (702) 385-7367
Nevada Higher System of Education –
Any student impacted by the government shutdown can seek a deferrment of registration fees/tuition for the Spring 2019 semester. This resolution was passed by the Board of Regents.
Container Park –
Government employees with valid ID will get 2 complimentary tickets to the Dome. Offer good until the shutdown is over.
SeaQuest –
During the shutdown, SeaQuest is offering free admission to all furloughed federal workers and their immediate family.
D. Kru Wellness and CrossFit –
Free classes are being offered for furloughed federal employees during the shutdown. Call (702) 684-6229.
Mob Museum –
Federal workers get free admission during the shutdown time period.
