The suspects wanted for the murder of rap star Young Dolph have been captured, according to U.S. Marshals, per Memphis news station WREG. According to the press release per the local news outlet, Justin Johnson, 23, was captured around 3:00 p.m. in Indiana on Tuesday (Jan. 11).

The second suspect, Cornelius Smith, 32, was indicted on several charges including first-degree murder, according to District Attorney General Amy P Wierich. Smith was also charged with attempted murder involving Young Dolph’s brother who was with him at the time of the shooting per the press release.

Smith was in DeSoto County Jail in Hernando, Mississippi for a previous arrest and was later transferred to Shelby County Jail on Tuesday (Jan. 11). Police say Smith was arrested in Southaven, Mississippi for an auto-theft warrant, on Dec. 9, which involved the white vehicle that was believed to be the getaway car in Dolph’s murder.

The white vehicle was stolen on Nov. 10 at a gas station on Kirby Road the release states. Smith is currently being held without bond.

The capture of the suspects comes days after Johnson went on social media informing his followers that he would turn himself in and declare his innocence.

Dolph’s label, Paper Route Empire, recently announced that they will be putting together a compilation album as a tribute to the late rapper titled Paper Route Empire Presents: Long Live Dolph.  The album is expected to drop Jan. 21.

Young Dolph was murdered outside of his hometown local bakery, Makeda’s Cookies, in November of 2021.
