Most Delicious Places For Detroit-Style Pizza In Las Vegas
Detroit-style pizza is hard to find when you’re not in Motor City. But, there are a few places serving Detroit-style pizza in Las Vegas that are delicious and true to the art.
What Is Detroit-Style Pizza?
Being from Detroit, Michigan, I have the knowledge to speak about this. Detroit-style pizza starts with the art of the crust. It’s thick, buttery and crunchy. Depending on where you go in Detroit, each pizzeria has its own special recipe.
But the crust is always pressed into the pan. This creates that thick, crunchy, chewy crust that is sometimes topped with cheese, creating an additional layer of crunch.
It’s not as thick as Chicago pizza, which you quite literally have to eat with a fork and knife. This pizza is still a “handheld” slice. My favorite toppings are cupped pepperoni with jalapenos. You can’t forget the cup of ranch on the side, either.
Best Places For Detroit-Style Pizza In Las Vegas
The #1 spot I chose is Jet’s Pizza. Yes — they’re a chain. But, this chain is also super popular in Michigan. My friends and I would always grab a Jet’s Pizza after football games during high school.
There’s only one location in Las Vegas at 1321 W Sunset Rd Suite 120, Henderson, NV 89014. The BBQ chicken pizza is delicious, and the pepperonis are always crisp to perfection.
The ranch at Jet’s Pizza is also truly a Midwest ranch — tangy and creamy without a funky aftertaste.
The second place that I adore is Pizza Rock. This pizza joint has a few different types of pizza, but their Detroit-style pizza is delicious. The pizza is similar to Buddy’s style of pizza (if you’re from Detroit then you know what I’m talking about.)
Pizza Rock uses a deep pan and tops the crust with crispy cheese and butter. Then they add two stripes of marinara, garlic oil, romano and oregano, their website states.
The next spot that serves delicious Detroit pizza is Red Dwarf. This is a dive bar near UNLV, and it’s the perfect vibe for nonchalant pizza eating. Their signature Detroit pizza is the most famous on the menu, and it’s about $20. The drinks are delicious, too!
