Sad Day To Be A Raiders Fan – Davante Adams No Longer A Raider
On one hand, it’s a shocking mid-season move but on the other, we saw the writing on the wall. The Las Vegas Raiders have traded their star receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets for a conditional third-round draft pick. The pick could become a second-rounder if Davante either plays in a championship game or makes the first or second All-Pro team. It’s a massive win for the Jets but it leaves Raiders fans shaking their heads.
Sad Day To Be A Raiders fan
Davante Adams is easily one of the best wideouts in the league and has been his entire career. His ability to make tough catches and have automatic chemistry with quarterbacks is something special. He now reunites with someone he had historic chemistry with, his former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rogers is in his second season as a New York Jet and is over the top excited to get back with Devante. Adams arrival in the Big Apple gives the Jets an instant boost and anyone who has him on their fantasy a big boost as well. The chemistry these two had in Green Bay was undeniable, and there’s every reason to believe Adams will thrive again in this familiar environment.
For the Raiders, this trade feels like a mistake. When they brought Davante Adams to Las Vegas, they had a solid plan in place (or so we thought) with Derek Carr at quarterback, another quarterback that he has a deep connection with – dating back to their college days. They traded Carr a couple of years ago and the quarterback situation in Las Vegas has been less than desirable. At the end of the day despite some peeks of individual success for Davante Adams, the Raiders have still failed to put him in a position to win or make a deep playoff run.
As a fan, it’s frustrating to see how the Raiders mishandled such a talented player. He could have been a star on the Raiders for years to come but instead, they lost of the most talented wide receivers for a draft pick that may or may not pay off for a while, if at all. They are definitely in an uphill battle.
Meanwhile, the Jets are celebrating. They’ve managed to get one of the top wide receivers in the league, and it’s a huge win for them, any team that has Davante Adams on their roster should be happy. He is a great guy on and off the football field. For now, though, this trade makes Raiders fans even more frustrated.
