Anti-Human Trafficking Organization, Law Enforcement Find 8 Missing Children In Las Vegas
An anti-human trafficking organization and multiple law enforcement agencies found eight missing children in Las Vegas in early November.
F.R.E.E. International is an organization headquartered in Las Vegas that aims to fight against modern-day slavery and raises awareness about human trafficking, according to the website.
The organization and other law enforcement partners found 8 missing children and arrested one person during a task force operation in early November, according to a social media update by F.R.E.E. International. No further details were provided regarding the nature of the rescue, and the organization offered resources and services to the victims.
This Was Part Of A Missing & Exploited Children Task Force
According to a social media post by F.R.E.E. International, the organization hosted a task force at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) Tourist Safety Institute from Nov. 10 – Nov. 16. The task force was called the F.R.E.E. International Big Search Las Vegas Missing & Exploited Children Task Force.
This task force was “primarily focused on locating juveniles identified as victims of human trafficking, as well as those who were missing or endangered,” 8 News Now reports.
They partnered with a few other law enforcement agencies and organizations such as: the Nevada Department of Public Safety (Nevada Highway Patrol, Nevada Parole and Probation, and Nevada Division of Investigations), Nevada Attorney General’s Office, Nevada Transportation Authority, Homeland Security Investigations, Clark County Family Services, At-Risk Youth Services (CCFS-ARYS), Clark County School District Police Department (CCSDPD), Clark County Department of Juvenile Justice Services, City of Las Vegas Marshals, Protective Force International (PFI), and Security Alliance for Survivors.
Due to this task force, officials opened several other new criminal investigations and generated several intelligence leads, which were submitted to other law enforcement organizations.
This isn’t the first incident of this year where a task force located several missing children in Las Vegas.
During Super Bowl weekend this year, officials found 16 missing children in Las Vegas. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the non-profit In Our Backyard (IOB) conducted a task force that gathered over 600 “suspected human trafficking connections.”
