Las Vegas Babysitter Charged After Abandoning Child
It is tough finding a good Las Vegas babysitter that you can trust. But when you get a friend of your sister, you think you’d have someone good, right? Well, not quite. Now a woman has been arrested, a 9 year old girl is recovering after being left outside in near-freezing weather, and a mother’s worst fears are thankfully not realized.
What Did This Las Vegas Babysitter Do?
Nichole Jones was looking after three children. She had been looking after a woman’s kids for a bit and had no issues, according to 8 News Now. So, you’d figure you can trust her, right?
That’s what makes this story so baffling. According to a police report cited by KLAS, the Las Vegas babysitter woke up the 9 year old daughter of the mother and brought her to a gas station and car wash at Rancho and Bonanza (likely the Terrible’s Chevron). This is around 2am, definitely not a time to have a young girl out on a Tuesday.
According to the report, the 9 year old told police she was told to “go to sleep” by Jones, and that was it. She was just left there. Temperatures in the mid 30s. The dark of night. What in the actual heck is going on?
At 2:30am, mom realized that Jones and her daughter were missing and called the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report her daughter missing. Fast forward 30 minutes and Jones herself called 911 to request medical, saying the 9 year old seemed like she was dead and that she was unresponsive when she tried to wake her up. At which point she left but then returned.
Arrested And Charged
Upon coming face to face with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Nichole Jones was taken to a hospital, then later arrested and charged with child abuse as well as first degree kidnapping of a minor, although that charge was later dropped.
Thankfully a mom has her 9 year old back and an allegedly terrible Las Vegas babysitter is off the job.
