Clark County Plans Five-Field Baseball Complex at Desert Breeze Park
Construction begins next month on a new baseball complex at Desert Breeze Park, with the groundbreaking set for Dec. 13, 2024, according to KTNV. The project includes five baseball fields, four regular diamonds plus a specially designed field for players with different abilities. The facility will serve local teams for practice and host both community games and tournaments. The specialized field will feature adaptive equipment and surfaces to support players who need accommodations.
At the press conference, Commissioner Justin Jones said, “I’m thrilled to see this vision come to life and to create an inclusive space where everyone can experience the joy of the game we all love.”
The county’s Parks and Recreation department will oversee the project. With baseball fields in short supply across southern Nevada’s growing neighborhoods, these new fields should help reduce the long waiting times teams face when booking field time.
This is the county’s sixth major sports project since 2020, following earlier projects that delivered three soccer complexes and two softball facilities.
Research shows that sports facilities help make communities safer. A recent 2023 study from the National Recreation Association found a 12% reduction in youth crime in areas with sports facilities.
