Locals Look Forward to Future After Purchase by Floyd Mayweather of Las Vegas Skating Rink
Crystal Palace, a skating rink in the southeast valley, is being bought by professional boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., and locals already are talking about what’s next for the skating center.
FOX5 spoke with one local who says it is “good news” that the boxer, a Las Vegas local bought the rink.
Otis Lang says he was a regular at Crystal Palace for 30 years but stop going earlier this year. He hopes the rink can now become a space for communities of color.
“I’ve been skating all of my life ever since I was ten years old,” Otis Lang said. “It’s just been the culture out here in Las Vegas, just one of the regular thigs we did.”
Mayweather is said to be a regular at the rink. It’s where he met Quest Love, a professional roller skater he now sponsors.
“He loves skating just as much as I do… Floyd is a good guy. He’s a good man and I’m still learning from him,” Quest told FOX5.
Mayweather posted a video to his Instagram account skating with Quest in his mansion. When the sale is finalized, they will have much more room to skate. Mayweather has yet to announce specific plans for the rink.
