Oscars 2019: Black Panther Wins For Best Costume And Production Design
Ruth E. Carter made history last night!
She became the first African-American to win an Oscar for costume design, accepted the award, and showed gratitude to women who have been leaders on the silver screen.
“Thank you for honoring African royalty and the empowered way women can look and lead on screen,” Carter said.

“My career is built with passion to tell stories that allow us to know ourselves better…,” Carter continued. “Mom thank you for teaching me about people and their stories. You are the original superhero.”
After winning an award for Best Costume Design, Black Panther also won for Best Production Design.
