LVCVA to Make $79M in Cuts
Because of the massive drop in tax revenue that goes along with Las Vegas being shut down do to the coronavirus pandemic, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is planning on making some major cuts.
$79-million worth of cuts. Some of the 11 areas where cuts will be made include, the elimination of performance bonuses for managers and executives, a hiring freeze, a furlough for temporary and on-call workers and voluntary early retirement for some employees.
The LVCVA is also going to cancel $9-million worth of contracts for tourism ambassadors and $12-million in miscellaneous operational changes.
However, there are 2 projects that will not be cut. The $1-billion convention center expansion and the $53-million underground people mover, both of which are already under construction.
